Period Panties

Updated: Mar 17, 2022

Okay. It's that time of the month again. The time we all dread. Baggie dark clothes, hot water bottles an extra towel on the bed. This is how I've coped for the last 14 years with my periods. I can't stand it. That fear when shopping for sanitary products, the quick shuffle we do through our bags before stashing a pad up our sleeve at work. We've all have been there. So I'm trying to find new ways I can embrace my periods and feel more comfortable with my body during my cycle. I don't know about you here's, but there's not a time that I feel more disconnected with my femininity and sexuality than when I'm on my period. *Cue period panties*..

I have always heard of them in passing conversations along with menstrual cups which I'm honestly still a bit nervous to try. I have always worn sanitary pads and so period panties was a real game changer for me. Over the last couple months I had some irregular bleeding due to a health condition which left me in a lot of distress and discomfort. I was getting fed up with having to constantly buy and use products and so I decided to impulse shop a bunch of different period panties off amazon.

Here were my finds:

Rovtop Period Panties:

Review: these were really thick for heavier flows and look like normal undies https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08Z3G6678?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Eco Lily Store: Reusable Pads

Review: so comfy and soft and really absorbant

MODIBODI https://www.modibodi.co.uk/?redirect=disable&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjJOQBhCkARIsAEKMtO1iqwJjGodc-UP4q0UAcCTeAQRoT5E1T1hTjtH_-GFqsLH3afyHmPwaAltxEALw_wcB After sharing my finds on insta stories(as I do with everything), it started a discussion among my fellow period pantie wearers. Love you guys! The brand modibodi was highly recommended. Now, although the products may seem quite pricy for basic underwear, I truly believe it's a major investment for your longterm bleeds and your wellbeing.

(Like weigh out the costs of products and compare to these.) I still have yet to trail these on the heaviest days, but so far these products have worked wonders for the medium/lighter days when you just need to pop out for a few hours or so. Here are some great benefits: - Comfy no rough paper texture or chaffing - Contains leaks, some of them require extra protection on heavier days - different styles and grades of absorbance to cater to different people's cycles. - easier to wear to the gym I am still a bit curious about wearing them out for long periods of time or how it'll last at work or the gym on heavier days but it has definitely contributed to making me feel more sexy and comfortable during that time of the month. I have tried reusable pads (Eco Lily listed above) which was sooooo comfy too! If I could describe it I would say it's like wearing a fluffy soft little pillow in your undies 😅🤣 (it is quite bulky but you get used to it). Honestly though, it is so much comfier going to bed with these once you get over the fear of sleeping without your usual go tos.

The con of period undies like any Eco friendly form of menstrual protection, is ofcourse the maintenance, so if that's not for you, then I would avoid it. But honestly it's not that bad and they are all machine washable.

Plus you its a lot more sustainable if you are wanting to try living more eco friendly and helping the environment. I would definitely recommend trialling them at home first and seeing how well they work with your own cycles and if you aren't completely comfortable you can double up with additional pads.. They will help prevent leakage! Have you tried period panties? What else would you recommend?
